After-School Clubs (LS)

The Lower School offers a vibrant After-School Clubs program for students in Kindergarten through grade 5 in the fall, winter, and spring. Featuring exciting activities such as basketball, dance, painting, and farming, After-School Clubs provide many opportunities to learn a new skill or nurture a budding passion.

Spring 2023 clubs take place once a week from 3:05-4:05 pm and will run from Monday, April 10 through Friday, June 2 (unless otherwise noted). If students are not enrolled in Extended Day on the day of their club, they should be picked up promptly at 4:05 pm.

Please note that students in mixed grade levels will be participating in clubs together. In order to secure enrollment in a club, you must pay when you register otherwise your registration will be null and void. Spaces fill up quickly, so please pay at the time of registration to secure your child(ren)'s spot. There will be no extensions for club registration and no refunds on club fees. Each club is $140, with the exception of Drama Club (winter session only) and Cookin Club which are $150. Club days will not be made up if School is closed for any reason.

MONDAY CLUB

Soccer Club with Teacher Jess Magin: Calling all soccer enthusiasts! Students will learn and practice their foot work, passing, and shooting skills. Those skills will be applied when players engage in game-like situations and scrimmages. Most importantly, players will develop skills in teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. This club is great for students who want to learn how to play soccer as well as those who already have a love of the sport!

TUESDAY CLUBS

Origami  Club with Teacher Catherine Dawson: Come and explore the fun of folding (and unfolding) paper to make some really cool things! Origami allows us to make just about anything. This spring, we will be focusing on flowers, items of students' own interests, and games to play with origami-made items. 
Grades 2 & 3 • Min. 8/Max. 12 students 

Field Hockey Club with Teacher Jasmine Kinsey: All students – from beginners aspiring to learn more about the sport to intermediate/advanced player interested in learning more – are invited to join Field Hockey Club. Students will be taught valuable skills and game fundamentals in a recreational, supportive, and safe environment. We will work on building hand-eye coordination, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and most of all, how to have fun. Field Hockey Club will take place in the gym. We will use padded sticks for safety, and all club participants must wear sneakers the day of the club.

Spring Farming with Teacher Tiffany Borsch: Spring Farming club will help get the farm ready for spring planting, clean the chicken coop, turn compost, sow seeds, and much more! Students should prepared for each club meeting – bringing water, a sun hat, mucking shoes, and a snack! We are sure to work hard and get a bit of soil under our fingers!

Lego Club with Teacher Anna Gambescia: Lego Club is an opportunity to grow as an engineer! Students will practice following blueprints, solving problems, and exploring basic physics. The students will have different challenges to conquer each week along with opportunities to get creative with their own ideas. Above all, students will have fun!

WEDNESDAY CLUBS

Flag Football Club with Teacher Will DeMichele: Flag Football club is a no-tackle football activity. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of football, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and above all, how to have fun. As the weeks progress, students will be introduced to mini drills that will help develop their ball handling and footwork skills. The overall goal is for students to have fun and be safe while participating in the club. All students on the day of the club must wear sneakers.

Improvisation Club with Teacher Martha Cooney: Get ready to say "yes, and" as we have fun learning the art of improv, which is comedic theater made up on the spot! Students will build skills in teamwork and cooperation as they exercise listening, agreement, and support within improv games. We will practice performing emotions, creating characters, and building on each other's ideas to create scenes. In improv, we embrace our comedic side and enjoy the experience of never knowing what's going to happen next!

Sign Language Club with Teacher Janaeyah Reid: Sign Language club is a space where students will have an opportunity to learn the basics of American Sign Language (ASL). They will learn the alphabet, popular regional terms such as how to sign "Pennsylvania," say their name, and narrate an original short story. They will learn about deaf culture, gain cultural appreciation, and have fun!

THURSDAY CLUB

Chess Club with Teacher Sarah Butler: Checkmate! In Chess club, students will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills and knowledge of this great game while engaging in some friendly competition. We will review basic rules and objectives, names and positions of chess pieces, as well as some tips and tricks to improve their game over time. All levels are welcome to join the club. 
Grades 3, 4 & 5 • Min. 8/Max. 10 students

Basketball Club with Coach Rudy Fabry: Join us as we develop our basketball skills, team skills, and life skills. This club is great for the player looking to get better and further enhance their skills. This club will focus on dribbling, passing, shooting, team drills, and various team games.

K’nex  Club with Teacher Will DeMichele: K’nex Club encourages students to learn while having fun! Utilizing K’nex will help strengthen student creativity, problem solving, self-confidence, critical thinking, and cooperation/collaboration. Students will have a chance to work with friends on a project or work individually thinking of new ideas. We will encourage and enhance this natural inventiveness by providing students with opportunities to use their innovative thinking to find and build solutions. There are so many things to build with K'nex! Come and let your imagination run wild!

Cooking Club with Teacher Jasmine Kinsey: Come one, come all to Cooking Club with Chef Jasmine. Students will be encouraged to cook, bake, and create delicious food dishes while gaining familiarity around the kitchen in a fun and engaging way. Each week, the Cooking Club will explore and learn about different foods from various cultures around the world. Get ready to get messy and make some fun, healthy snacks and meals. Cooking Club will be an allergy-free and friendly environment.

FRIDAY CLUBS

Sports Clinic Club with Teacher Sabrina Johnson: Let's get fit! This club will introduce students to fitness training in a fun way. Students will participate in sports challenges, obstacles courses, and games. Students will learn age-appropriate, strength-building skills and build up hand-eye coordination and basic skills through a variety of sports. This club will certainly keep students busy!
