Music and Voice Lessons (Individual)

Friends' Central offers opportunities for individual private instruction by experienced local professional musicians. See below for available instruments by grade level. Case-by-case exceptions may be made for students with prior instrumental experience. All instruments may be continued through grade 12.

Individual lessons provide one-on-one instruction to encourage both technical and artistic growth. Lessons take place before, during, or after the school day at FCS at the mutual convenience of teacher and student. Twenty-six half-hour lessons will be scheduled weekly throughout the school year. Lessons are a year-long commitment and families should consider overall scheduling before signing up.

Lower School Rainbow String Ensemble

Friends' Central offers opportunities for string instrument students in grades 2-5 who have had one year or more of private lessons in or out of school to join the Rainbow String Ensemble (other orchestral instruments may be admitted on a case by case basis). Students must continue their private lessons while in this ensemble. The Rainbow Ensemble rehearses after school each Wednesday from 3:00-3:45 pm from October through May and performs several times during the school year.
